Peter MaccallumBetween 1986 and 1997 I studied at the Universities of Edinburgh (Chemistry BSc) and Glasgow (Biochemistry PhD), and was employed by EPCC and the EBI to work on applications of High Performance Computing to (what we now call) e-Science.
From 1998 to 2005 I was employed variously as a technical architect, consultant, and software development manager in the pharmaceutical industry (working on projects for Incyte, Aventis, GSK, Wyeth-Aerst and Bayer) and for producers of bioinformatics software (Synomics, Tripos and LION Bioscience).
My technical expertise is mostly in the areas of bioinformatics data management and data modeling, the design and implementation of n-tier distributed systems, and more recently web services and Grids.
